The kids and teens who live at the New Horizon's home in Abilene are looking forward to starting school.

"Kids who've been removed from their homes and are dealing with emotional trauma and are dealing with some issues that they need to work through, and we're a place that they can come work through those issues," said Hannah Wiginton of New Horizons.

Wiginton explains that the children here have dealt with various types of trauma, so they want to help them in getting prepared for the first day of school.

We asked one young boy what he thought about returning to school this Fall. He said, "I am excited about going back to school because I will get to learn new things."

Today was the first annual KRBC School Supply Drive. It was held at Walmart and the supplies donated will benefit these well deserving kids.

"School is a big thing... and I mean our kids go to the schools here in Abilene and we need supplies just like every other kid."

Wiginton said they are hoping to get enough supplies to help the kids at the Audrey Grace House and some of their other kids as well.

"The school supplies we will receive today will greatly benefit these kids," said Wiginton. "They will feel more confident and ready for their first day."
