Callahan County Shooting Suspect Deceased from Apparent Self-Inflicted Wounds

CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A Callahan County man accused of shooting his girlfriend in the face Tuesday afternoon has been found deceased from apparent self-inflicted wounds.

The Callahan County Sheriff's Office told KTAB and KRBC members of the Abilene SWAT team forced their way inside a home on Hwy 6 and CR 305 around 3:30 p.m. and found the body of Clifton Lindsey.

Several law enforcement agencies, including the Texas Rangers, were involved in a cross-county search for Lindsey after the Sheriff's Office received reports that he shot his girlfriend in the face around 2:20 p.m. then fled the scene.

The girlfriend was airlifted to the hospital in serious condition after the shooting, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Lindsey was also accused of firing shots at bail bondsmen who attempted to contact him at the home on Hwy 6 and CR 305 in February.
