Alexander, Davis Lead War Hawks at Air Force Meet

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – McMurry’s Tiana Alexander won the women’s 60-meter hurdles and Paul Davis won the men’s shot put to highlight the War Hawks’ day at the Air Force Collegiate Invitational indoor track meet.

Alexander shattered the school record of 9.12 by clearing all the hurdles in a clocking of 8.78 in the preliminaries, earning the No. 2 seed. In the finals, the junior speedster got the best start on the field and parlayed that into a first place and bettering her mark with an 8.55.

Alexander missed qualifying for next week’s United States indoor national championships by 5/100ths of a second.
Just for good measure, Alexander also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 18’ 5 ¼”.

Davis won the shot with a heave of 63’ 2 ¾”. It was Davis’ third win of the indoor season.

Other highlights for the War Hawks included an eighth place in the men’s pole vault by junior Grayson Morrow. Morrow cleared a personal-best height of 15’ 7”.

The men’s 4x400 relay quartet was fourth overall in a time of 3:23.33 minutes. Sophomore Victor Cruz was fourth in the 60-meter dash at 6.86 seconds and also fifth in the 200 meters (22.03).

McMurry’s women’s 4x400 relay team was fifth in its division, crossing the line at 4:15.97.
