Cowboys Are Tied For Fourth In Season Opener

AUSTIN, Texas — Hardin-Simmons’ men’s golf team shot a 315 and is in a tie for fourth place after the first round of the 10-team Linda Lowey Invitational that is being played at the par-72, 6.983-yard Falconhead Golf Club in Austin.

Junior Brandon Heard led the Cowboys and is in seventh place overall with a 75. Junior Ryan Hughes shot a 78 and is tied for 14th. Freshmen Sam Rogers (80) and Austin Prior (82) were the other HSU counting scores. Junior Sean Aleman shot a 91.

Host Concordia leads the tournament with a 304 total. Schreiner is second with a 306 and Mary Hardin-Baylor is third with a 309. HSU is tied with Division II Southern Arkansas. Defending NCAA Champion Texas-Tyler is sixth after shooting a 318.

Zach Oliver of Schreiner leads the individual race after shooting a 1-under 71.
