TYLER, Texas — Hardin-Simmons’ women’s golf team placed fifth at the Al Jones Memorial Tournament on Tuesday at the par-72, 5,728-yard Cascades Golf Course in Tyler.
HSU shot a 342 in the second round after shooting 334 in the first round for a 676 total.
Kara Doege led the Cowgirls with an 80-82-162 to place tied for 11th overall. It was her best career two-round score. Kylee Emerson shot 80-85-165 and tied for 15th place. Kacy Bartlett shot 85-88-173, Traci Tschirhart fired an 89-87-176 and Cassi Smith shot 90-96-186.
Texas-Tyler won the team race by 22 strokes over Texas Wesleyan 615-637. Centenary College was third with a 654, Texas Tyler B was fourth with a 667 and HSU was fifth with a 334-342-676 total.
HSU will play at the Alamo City Classic in San Antonio Oct. 21-22.
