BLANCO, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team opened the 2013-14 season with a fourth-place finish at the Lady Bulldog Fall Classic at the par-72, 5,826-yard Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco.
The Cowgirls shot a 355 in the second round after shooting 353 in the first round. Dylan Dawson led the way for HSU with an 85 on Tuesday she shot an 83-85-168 in the tournament to place 8th. Kylee Emerson improved her score from 88 to 87 in the second round and placed 16th with a 175 total.
Kacy Bartlett shot a pair of 89s and finished with a 178. Kara Doege shot 93-94 for a 187 and Traci Tschirhart shot 93-95-188.
Mary Hardin-Baylor won the tournament with a two-round total of 646, 18 shots ahead of Southwestern. Concordia shot 702 for third place, HSU was fourth with 708, Texas-Dallas was fifth with a 731 and Texas Lutheran shot 750 for a sixth place finish.
Taylor O’Rear shot an impressive 76 in the second round and won the medalist title by one stroke over her teammate Elizabeth Davis with a 157 total.
The Cowgirls will next be in action on Sept 23-24 at the Wildflower Invitational in Temple.
