Cowgirls In Fourth Place At TLU

BLANCO, Texas — Hardin-Simmons’ women’s golf team opened the 2013-14 season with a 353 and is in fourth place at the Lady Bulldog Fall Classic at the par-72, 5,826-yard Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco.

Sophomore Dylan Dawson led the way for the Cowgirls with an 83. She is in a tie for seventh place overall. Kylee Emerson shot an 88 in her first round as a Cowgirl. Kacy Bartlett shot an 89, Kara Doege and Traci Tschirhart each shot 93.

Defending NCAA champion Mary Hardin-Baylor fired a 322 and leads second place Southwestern by 14 strokes. Concordia is third with a 349, UTD is fifth with a 362 and host TLU shot a 375. Shelby Allen of Concordia shot a 77 to lead the medalist race.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
