Rodriquez took over the job against Texas A&M/Kingsville and hasn't looked back.
He has 22 touchdown passes and 1,625 yards through the air.
Head coach Mason Miller likes what he's seen in the true freshman from Amarillo.
Miller said, "I think he's progressed a lot. There was 1 day during fall camp when he just lit it up, and it caught everybody's attention, and then the next couple of days, he didn't do it. What I am seeing now is consistency out of him. You know, doing it each day, getting better, learning from his mistakes. So, he's progressed a good deal. Gabe's special, now. He's some talents, so we hope he keeps progressing and keeps getting better."
McMurry and West Texas A&M play on Saturday at Moore Stadium. They will kick at 2. This the 1st time the 2 schools have met since 1954.
