PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – The McMurry University golf teams will be teeing it up this Monday through Wednesday (Oct. 21-23) at their respective National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) post-season events at The Hombre Golf Club.
Practice rounds and a pre-tournament banquet took place on Sunday.
The McM women’s squad will be playing in what will be the last NCCAA Women’s Golf Invitational, as it becomes a full national championship event in the NCCAA beginning in 2014. Head coach Barbara John will compete with a roster comprised of senior Makenzie Stone, junior Leah Morgan, sophomores Randi Hanfeld and Cameron Wallace, and freshman Arabella Cruz.
Nine teams will be competing in the NCCAA Women’s Invitational.
The McM men – under head coach Russ Evans – will send a quintet consisting of senior Curtis Stanley, juniors Matt Porter and Garrett Betts, along with sophomores Seth Abbott and Mitchel Fagan, to the NCCAA Men’s Golf Championship.
A compliment of 18 men’s teams will vie for the NCCAA title.
“Both of our teams are healthy and ready to play,” John and Evans said in a joint statement. “We are both confident that are teams will show this on the golf course. We are excited that our teams are getting the opportunity to be part of such a great event.”
