WICHITA, Kan. – Sophomore Kelsey Harkins finished with a team-high 14 kills, but it wasn't enough as Newman University fought past McMurry University 3-1 (17-25, 14-25, 25-23, 23-25) Thursday night in Heartland Conference action.

The Jets (12-10, 6-8 Heartland) used a heavy dose of Jeana Farruggia, Gaylynn Jones and Shelby Zoglman.

Jones, a freshman outside hitter finished with a match-high 16 kills and also helped out with 13 digs. Zoglman recorded 11 kills and Farruggia helped chipped in 10 kills.

The Jets' offense ran through Alexus Litts. The sophomore setter had 49 assists and contributed 12 digs and seven kills.
Despite the setback, Taylor Seaton (Big Spring, Texas/Big Spring HS) played exceptionally well. The sophomore finished with seven kills, but her .545 hitting percentage was a match-high. Also, Harkins (Elgin, Texas/Elgin HS) hit .297 and Kasi Conners (Abilene, Texas/Abilene HS) hit .294 and recorded seven kills and five blocks.
