The new era in football at McMurry officially began Tuesday afternoon.

Head coach Lance Hinson was introduced to the media and fans at the school.

Hinson comes to War Hawk nation from the University of St. Mary in Kansas where he was a 2-time Coach of the Year award winner.

He takes over a program that is dropping from NCAA Division II to Division III.

Hinson says he know how to build a good Division III football program.

"There are decisions that are made that are way above everybody eles' pay grade around here. So, it is what it is. I am very used to the division three type of model of recruiting. It's all about the right fit, and it's working your tail off, as these coaches have done. It's finding the right, type of kids that can come in here and be very good on the football field, but contribute mightily to the good of McMurry university," said head coach Lance Hinson.

Hinson takes over the War Hawks program from Mason Miller, who went 3-8 in 1 season as the head coach.

He is the school's 5th head coach since 2005. By contrast, Hinson was at his previous job since 2005.
