PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – McMurry University’s Matt Porter placed 20th and Mitchel Fagan 34th in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Men’s Golf Championships on Wednesday. Porter and Fagan played the final day, despite the fact that the balance of the War Hawks’ team missed the cut.
Porter shot a one-over 73 in finishing up the 54-hole tournament at The Hombre Golf Club. Starting on the back nine, Porter was four over for his first nine holes played. Birdies on the 2nd, 4th, 5th and sixth holes got him back to level par before a bogey five on the eighth hole left him at one-over for the afternoon.
Fagan, also playing as an individual for the final round, struggled in closing out his tournament. Three bogeys, a double bogey and a pair of triple bogeys led to an 81 for the day for Fagan. The sophomore did card birdies on the par-5 10th and par-4 16th.
