St Mary's Bests McMurry in Five-Set Thriller

ABILENE, Texas – St Mary's University downed McMurry University 3-2 (17-25, 26-24, 26-24, 20-25 and 11-15) in a five-set thriller Saturday afternoon in Heartland Conference action at Kimbrell Arena.

The War Hawks had a difficult time containing Kelsey Huber. She finished with a match-high 19 kills and .298 hitting percentage.

Senior Peyton Evans (Riverton, Utah/Western Texas College) finished with a team-high 15 kills, 23 assists and 13 digs for a triple-double. Fellow senior Kasi Conners (Abilene, Texas/Abilene HS) was a force at the net for the War Hawks. She had a match-high seven blocks and 10 kills and finished with a .250 hitting percentage.

Neither team hit the ball exceptionally well. As a team McM hit .147, while St Mary's (11-12, 7-6 Heartland) hit .182.
Kayla Hines (Robinson, Texas/Robinson HS) and Kelsey Harkins (Elgin, Texas/Elgin HS) finished with nine kills apiece.
McM (10-13, 6-6) returns to action Oct. 31 at Newman University.
