GREENVILLE, S.C. – McMurry University junior Tiana Alexander (Killeen, Texas /Ellison H.S.) was named as the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) female track “Athlete of the Week” for the period ending February 16.
At last Friday’s Air Force Collegiate Open, Alexander won the 60-meter hurdles and broke the school record in the event in both her preliminary and finals race.
Alexander shattered the school mark of 9.12 seconds by clearing all the hurdles in a clocking of 8.78 in the preliminaries, earning the No. 2 seed. In the finals, the junior speedster got the best start of the field and parlayed that into a first place, bettering her mark with an altitude-adjusted time of 8.59 (8.55 actual).

Alexander missed qualifying for this week's United States indoor national championships by 5/100ths of a second.

Just for good measure, Alexander also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 18' 5 ¼". She was also eighth in the triple jump at 37’ 5 ¾”.
It was Alexander’s second NCCAA national “Athlete of the Week” nod, also winning the award two weeks ago.
