SHAWNEE, Okla. – McMurry University’s women’s golf team fought its way up on the final 18 holes to place second at the Oklahoma Baptist University Fall Invitational at the par-72, 5,829 yard Shawnee Country Club course.
The War Hawks battled a course that yielded just one score in the 70’s on the final day in making the big charge up the board. Head coach Barbara John’s team had a 349 on Day 2, after opening with a 357 on Monday (for a composite 706 score for the War Hawks).
Host OBU won the event with a 672.
Randi Hanfield earned a top-10 finish with a sixth place. Hanfield had rounds of 80 and 89 for a total of 169 for the 36 holes.
Newcomer Arabella Cruz tied for 11th place with a 175 (88-87). Junior Leah Morgan was close behind tied for 15th place with a 177 (90-87).
Senor Makenzie Stone righted her own ship in time to help her team in round two. After an uncharacteristic 104 on Monday, Stone carded an 86 on Tuesday and was in 27th place.
Cameron Wallace rounded out the McM scoring players with a composite 194 (99-95).
