Suspect Arrested for Stabbing at Anson Birthday Party

ANSON, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A suspect accused of stabbing a man at a party in Anson over the weekend has been arrested.

Robert Aguirre III was taken into custody on a warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Thursday morning in connection to the incident that happened Saturday night. He's now being held in the Jones County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Anson Police Chief David Moore says the stabbing happened during a large dual birthday party at the golf course building near the intersection of 23rd Street and Avenue G.

He told KTAB and KRBC Aguirre and another man began fighting outside the building, and when bystanders pulled them apart, the second man's brother began attacking Aguirre.

Shortly after the fight between Aguirre and the brother began, Chief Moore claims the brother stood up, said he had been stabbed, and revealed a large gash across his abdomen.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital then later transported to Hendrick Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit in "critical condition."

Chief Moore says the victim underwent surgery but is now beginning to recover.
