UPDATE: Power Restored after Monday Morning Outage

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Power has been in south Abilene after a widespread outage affected thousands of customers Monday morning. 

AEP Texas reported over 2,300 customers were affected by the outage that began sometime before 11:30 a.m.

A representative with AEP Texas told KTAB and KRBC the issue was caused after a piece of equipment failed at the substation near McMurry University on S. 14th Street. 

Power was restored after the equipment was repaired around 12:30 p.m.
