Three Abilene Men Indicted for Child Sex Crimes

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Three Abilene men were indicted on various child sex crimes during Thursday's Grand Jury session.

Marshall Carter, 20, was indicted for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, Bryan Bell, 20, was indicted for Possession of Child Pornography, and Howard Sturgis, 56, was indicted on two counts of Indecency with a Child.

Carter's charge is connected to allegations of ongoing abuse from September of 2013 to October of 2014. Court documents say the victim's father contacted police to report the abuse, and when interviewed, the victim said "he told Marshall no but Marshall. . . made him". The victim was under 14 when the abuse occurred.

Bell was arrested in March after the Abilene Police Department executed a search warrant at his home and found child pornography. Police began to suspect Bell was involved in child porn when a detective traced a video found on a file-sharing site to Bell's computer, according to court documents, which say Bell also made the video available for 30 additional users to download. The documents say Bell admitted to using the file-sharing site for child porn.

Sturgis' charges were issued after two victims came forward with allegations that were years-old. Court documents say one victim claims Sturgis sexually assaulted her for three years beginning in 2007, and the other victim reported Sturgis had inappropriate sexual contact with her on multiple occasions beginning when she was 8-years-old in 1993.

There is no indication that any of these suspects or child sex crimes are related.
