Tornado Warning Issued for Taylor County

A Tornado Warning has been issued for Taylor and Nolan Counties. 

The National Weather Service issued the warning around 4:15 p.m. and it is in effect until around 5:15 p.m. 

A storm capable of producing tornadoes was spotted near Happy Valley 16 miles north of Winters. The NWS says the storm is moving northeast and is capable of producing golf-ball-sized hail.

Highway 277 is straight in the path of danger. KTAB and KRBC meteorologists are urging travelers to avoid this stretch of road until the warning is lifted. 

Rotation has also been noticed in this system. The storm is predicted to be in Buffalo Gap around 4:35 p.m. and will be in the City of Abilene around 5:08 p.m.

The storm will continue to move northeast after that.

Residents in the City of Abilene and elsewhere in Taylor County are asked to take shelter in a safe location until the storm passes.
