Two people are dead and nine are injured after an explosion at a West Texas oil field this morning.

According to Loving County Sheriff Bill Hopper, the workers were changing a wellhead when a buildup of pressure led to the explosion.

This happened near the Texas' border with New Mexico, sixty miles southeast of Carlsbad New Mexico.

Authorities identified 46-year-old Amos B. Ortega of Artesia, New Mexico and 41-year-old Roberto Magdelino of El Paso, as the persons killed.

Hopper also stated that they initially believed four workers were hurt before the number expanded later in the day.
