Police have identified Hijinio Estevan Moreno, 40, as the victim found shot to death inside the home in the 400 block of Portland Friday night. Detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Unit, Special Victims Unit, and Forensics were all called to the scene.
Upon arrival, police officers found Moreno with multiple gunshot wounds. Police have arrested Randy Vialpando, 30, as the suspect in the shooting. According to police, Vialpando drove to the home on Portland and found his wife inside the victim's home. Vialpando reportedly forced entry and fire multiple shots at Moreno and killed him.
Police say Vialpando fled the scene and was later found during a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Danville early Saturday morning.
Police searched the Vialpando's residence and found a state jail felony level marijuana lab on his property and a state jail felony level of ecstasy.
Vialpando has been charged with capital murder since the crime occurred while committing burglary with intent to commit assault. He's also been charged with state jail felony possession of marijuana and state jail felony level possession of ecstasy.
Vialpando's wife was also arrested and charged with state jail felony possession of marijuana. Both husband and wife's bonds have not been sent.
The case is still under investigation.
Police responded to a 911 disturbance call around 6:45 to the 400 block of Portland Avenue. When police arrived they found a Hispanic male shot and was pronounced dead on scene.
The investigation is still on going and police do not have a suspect yet. They do not if the victim lived alone and they are not releasing what type of gun was used.
Police are still talking to neighbors and trying to get the story together. Sargent Lynn Beard, with the Abilene Police, says it appears there was a struggle.
KTAB spoke to neighbors, they say they heard gunshots but it sounded like firecrackers. Then before they knew it police cars showed up to the home.
