Cole's funeral arrangements started at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Sachse.
On Thursday, the McMurry War Hawks took the field for the first time for their fall camp. The team was supposed to kick things off Wednesday, but practice was postponed due to the tragic loss.
Cole died after a collision in Callahan County Tuesday night.
On the first rehearsal, the team went through drills with heavy hearts, and even honored Cole by yelling out B-C-Three as they ended practice for the day.
It was clear the players wanted to remember their fallen teammate.
David McHugh said "One thing about Billy is that he always, you know he always gave it 110 percent no matter where he was. No matter if he was in the classroom or on the field. He made just all of us better people. He made us better people and better football players, and one thing Billy would want, I mean, he wouldn't want us to worry about him right now."
Matthew McHugh said "He was my brother man. I only knew him for two years and I could honestly say he would be my best man at my wedding. So, it's tough for me and it's tough for my teammates, but he wouldn't want anything else but for us to pull through this and go get some wins this year.
