Located just north of town, Lake Fort Phantom is a vital source for Abilene's drinking water. At just under 43% capacity, the lake continues to be hit hard by the current drought.
A lack of steady rainfall over the past year can be seen throughout the area as boat ramps are now partially filled with mud and grass.
Tommy O'Brien from the City of Abilene says the drought is something they are taking seriously and continue to monitor the levels at Lake Fort Phantom.
