Wet roads cause multiple crashes on I-20 in Sweetwater

SWEETWATER, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Rain is to blame for at least 4 crashes in Sweetwater.

Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden shared photos and a video with KTAB/KRBC of four different crash scenes, all located on Interstate 20.

Early Tuesday morning a semi-truck flipped on its side. Traffic was backed up for over two miles, due to the west bound lanes being completely shutdown. Crews were able to get the trailer upright around 10 am.

Wet roads are to blame for two semi trucks and a pick up truck colliding near mile marker 244 in the west bound lane of I-20 around 2 pm.

Just two miles away, near mile marker 266 in the east bound lane, backed up traffic caused two semis to collide.

Crews worked another accident around 5:30 pm when a semi-truck jack-knifed near the east interchange of I-20 near USG. Diesel from a punctured fuel tank was spilling onto the roadway.

No one was injured in the accidents.
