One Abilene man talks about his experiences serving in World War II. Roy Randolph, was drafted when he was 22 years old in 1942.
He had to leave behind his newlywed wife. They had only been married a month and once he left Randolph didn't see her for 3 years.
He traveled all over Europe to France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. It was in Germany in 1945 when his serviced ended.
He came home with five medals, but the one he is most proud of is his Bronze Star. A select number of men receive this medal for achieving something outstanding during their time of service.
However, it has been so long that now Randolph can't remember why he received it.
Randolph has five children and feels very blessed. His wife passed away this May at the age of 91. They were married for 72 long and happy years Randolph said.
Randolph will be turning 94 years old on June 2nd.
