Abilene High, Cooper, and Brownwood are featured in the top match-ups of 2014 for weeks six and seven.

The Cooper Cougars finish up non-district play with the Amarillo High Sandies in Week 6. Cooper's longer than usual non-district schedule ends with a longer than usual road trip up to the Panhandle. The Cougars and Sandies have a playoff history with Cooper coming out on top most of the time. Most recently the Cougars beat Amarillo High for the Area championship in 2011. The overall series is close with the Sandies winning 5 of the 9 contests, but the playoff record between the 2 schools is even closer. Both teams have 3 victories and 3 losses in the 6 postseason meetings.

On to Week 7 of the 2014 season for the 1st week of district play in the Little Southwest Conference. Abilene High hits the road to take on Texas Football Magazine's favorite to win the district, San Angelo Central. Head coach Steve Warren and his team start their attempt to prove that the disappointing 2013 season was an aberration. BCH Sports Player to Watch Derek Scott is the trigger-man for what should be an outstanding offense. The defense will have it's hands full with a Central potent offense led by new quarterback Braden Hucks. This game should be a good gauge for how the season will go in District 3-6A.

The rivalry between the Stephenville Yellow Jackets and the Brownwood Lions is set to be renewed in District 3-4A's opener. Stephenville dominated the Lions last year in the playoffs at Shotwell Stadium, and Brownwood is anxious to get another shot at Jarrett Stidham and company. Lions' sophomore receiver Connor Howard is leading returning receiver in the district. Like Connor, most of the starting lineup for Brownwood will be underclassmen.
