The Cross Plains Buffaloes are hard at work.

Head coach Daniel Purvis just missed out on the playoffs in 2013, but they are expected to get in this year.

Like many teams in the Big Country, the Buffaloes are young.

Coach Purvis is looking at the bright side of youth as his team heads into the new season.

Daniel Purvis said "We only have three seniors on our team and that's good and bad. It's bad because you would like a little older leadership, but it's good because it gives a lot of younger kids an opportunity and we do. We're going to have a bunch of younger kids playing for us and getting to play at the varsity level which we're excited about and they're excited about and we like what's happening."

Kiefer Steinle said "With just a few of us it's a little harder but we've got a good team. They don't mess around much. It's just pretty much business. They know what they're doing."
