The Bulldogs start out against defending state champion Argyle on Friday.
Wylie's schedule in 2014 continues a tradition of tough non-district schedules.
Some coaches take it a little easier in the games that don't count, but that's not coach Sandifer's approach at all.
Hugh Sandifer said, "Number one, we try and challenge our kids every game prior to district to get them ready. We play a lot of good teams, a lot of tough teams. A lot of people, if you've had a lot of success and we've been fortunate to have a lot of sucess, people won't play you in non-district schedule."
Clay Johnston said, "It kind of pumps us up. We're all excited. Coach Sandifer, he likes going up against the best because it will make us better. I mean we've got a really tough district coming. During school, we're all ready for that Argyle game. We're going to zone out in school a little. I mean it's important, but this Argyle game coming up is going to be a fun one."
Sandifer said, "We have to travel a lot and play quality opponents. Number one we want to number one, but number two it's not like we have the opportunity to play anybody in the state that we want to. Some people won't schedule those games."
The Bulldogs open 2014 in Argyle on Friday night. The Eagles and Bulldogs split the last 2 meetings.
Wylie won in Argyle in 2012. Argyle beat Wylie last year at Bulldog Stadium.
