Two big innings proved to be the difference in Abilene High's district win over Midland Lee on Saturday.

Derek Scott would help get the Eagles off to a good start at Blackburn Field by getting strike outs to end both the top of the first, and the top of the second.

The game would remain scoreless until Midland Lee was able to bring home two runs after a passed ball on a walk. The Eagles though would be quick to respond with a three-run third inning to take the lead at 3-2.

Midland Lee would continue to battle back and retake the lead a short time later.

Then in the bottom fifth, the Eagles were able to put up a six spot on the scoreboard thanks in part to big hits by Scott and Payton Coffman. From there the Eagles would cruise to a 9-5 victory and remain on top of the District 2-5A standings.
