The Abilene Lady Eagles are right in the thick of the playoff race as they head down the home stretch.

Head coach Terri Aston and her girls are a game and a half out behind Tascosa and Midland High for the 4th and final spot.

Aston is the 2nd new coach Abilene High has had in 2 years, so the season started with them getting used to each other.

It looks like the coach and her players are hitting their stride.

"It's been every thing that I expected. The girls have done a really good job of conforming to what I wanted, and they're just a good group of girls. They work hard for me," said head coach Terri Aston.

"I think we work better as a team. In the beginning it was really bad, but we've had a lot of team bonding and she's a really good coac," said Shanon Garrett.

"We don't give up. Just doing the easy things like rebounding a blocking out and finishing our shots. I kind of know what we need to do because we were in this position last year," said Sham Hunter.

The Lady Eagles do not have a game tonight, but they continue District 2-5A play on Friday night with the Crosstown Showdown against Cooper.
