AHS Girls Are Still In The Playoff Hunt

The Abilene Lady Eagles are right in the thick of the playoff race as they head down the home stretch.

Head coach Terri Aston and her girls are a game and a half out behind Tascosa and Midland High for the 4th and final spot.

Aston is the 2nd new coach Abilene High has had in 2 years, so the season started with them getting used to each other.

It looks like the coach and her players are hitting their stride.

"It's been every thing that I expected. The girls have done a really good job of conforming to what I wanted, and they're just a good group of girls. They work hard for me," said head coach Terri Aston.

"I think we work better as a team. In the beginning it was really bad, but we've had a lot of team bonding and she's a really good coac," said Shanon Garrett.

"We don't give up. Just doing the easy things like rebounding a blocking out and finishing our shots. I kind of know what we need to do because we were in this position last year," said Sham Hunter.

The Lady Eagles do not have a game tonight, but they continue District 2-5A play on Friday night with the Crosstown Showdown against Cooper.
