The Albany Lady Lions took a big step towards the regional semifinals with a 8-4 win over rival Stamford.

Albany would get on the board in the first inning after Alicia Alvarez smacked a grounder to the short stop, but an errant throw allowed two Lady Lion runs to come home. They would take a 3-0 lead after a passed ball a short time later.

Stamford would get one of those runs back in the bottom half of the frame with a base hit by Taylor Beeson. Then the Lady Bulldogs would tie the game at four in the bottom of the second.

A big inning by Albany a bit later would prove to be the difference as the Lady Lions took a one game lead with a 8-4 victory.
