The Anson Tigers won a share of the District 8-A title with an extra innings victory against Stamford on Monday.

It would be a pitchers duel early on with Chase Finley keeping the Bulldogs off the board with a strikeout to end the top of the second inning.

The game would remain scoreless until the third inning when Stamford's Zayzay Smith ripped a shot to the left field wall, and brought home the Bulldogs first run. They would add one more in the top of the third and take a 2-0 lead.

At the time it looked as if that would be enough for Stamford with Ligon West on the mound. A strike-out of Andrew Norwood would get the Bulldogs out of a jam in the fifth, and maintain the Bulldogs 3-0 lead.

Then in the bottom of the seventh the Tigers would rally with three runs to tie the game and send it to extra innings.

Earlier this season it would take ten innings to decide the game, and Monday's match-up would be more of the same.

It would take until the bottom of the eleventh for the Tigers to win the game with a walk-off single by Norwood. The 4-3 victory would also give Anson a share of the district title as well.

Stamford would win the "coin flip" to enter the playoffs as the top seed out of District 8-A.
