The Abilene High Eagles picked up a district win over Odessa High on Saturday thanks to an offensive explosion in the third inning.

The Bronchos would bust out of the gates at Blackburn. Matt Montes would hit a soft grounder to third base, and a run would score on the fielder's choice. Eagles' pitcher Payton Coffman would shutdown the Bronchos from there, and get out of the top of the first down 1-0.

Abilene High would find the plate with some aggressive base running. Bronchos' catcher Jakob Nunez would block a ball in the dirt, but Hill Holloway would come home while Odessa High tried to control the loose ball.

The Eagles would finally bust the game open in the third inning. A bases loaded single by catcher Conner Nichols would drive home two runs, and give Abilene High a 3-1 lead.

They would put up a total of five runs in the frame, and hold on from there for a 7-4 victory.
