The hunt for the next head football coach in Breckenridge may soon be over with Casey Hubble in line to take over the helm.

The Denton Record-Chronicle was the first to report that Hubble was the choice in Breckenridge on Thursday afternoon.

Hubble had been a member of the Denton Guyer coaching staff since 2005, and last season was the Wildcats' linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator.

The first time head coach, Hubble, was hired at Guyer by current head coach and former Steve Freeman assistant John Walsh.

Freeman resigned from the Breckenridge head coaching position just a few weeks ago. In four years at Breckenridge, Freeman led the Buckaroos to four straight playoff appearances and a 21-22 record.

The only hurdle standing of the way of Hubble becoming the next head coach at Breckenridge is the school board approving his hiring. They are expected to meet on Friday night.
