The Stamford Bulldogs are the defending state champions and they are just 1 win from returning to the state championship game for the 3rd year in a row.

However, this trip will be like none other.

The Bulldogs just played on Monday, and they are going to have to turn around and play again on Saturday in the semifinals.

It's a quick turn around, but they've had a short week before, and it should help.

"Against Panhandle we did have a short week, and I think our kids handled it well. I'm glad we had that opportunity to go through the process, and still win and keep alive. Then I felt like this week it probably payed bit dividends, because I don't think it's really affected our kids mentally at all," said head coach Wayne Hutchinson.

"We had a game Monday. Best practice you can get right there. Just film [Tuesday] and we're going to go regular weekends the next two days, be off Friday and be ready for Hico," said senior Ty McLemore.

It is a quick turn around for Stamford. They played at 3pm on Monday and now play at 3 on Saturday. The Bulldogs face Hico in San Angelo.
