Cooper head coach Todd Moebes said, "I was very pleased. We had to drive into the wind the 1st drive of the game, and the offense had to convert some 3rd downs and even some 4th downs to be able to keep the drive alive and to put in for 7 points on the 1st drive is always huge. The defense went out and went 3 and out on the 1st series and giving the ball back to our offense. Coronado only had 3 snaps in the 1st quarter and that was with the wind to their back. The whole 2nd quarter they were going into the wind, and we were able to score touchdowns and go 3 and out and score a couple of touchdowns and extend our lead. Really pleased with the way our guys came out in the 2nd half. The defense caused a turnover on the 1st play of the 2nd half, and the offense turned it into a touchdown. Being able to feed off each other all night long was great to see by our football team.
Robinett said, "It looked the defense was playing faster than they have all year. Was that addition of Cordell(Dorsey)? Is it the return of Josh(Hale)? Why do you think they were playing faster?"
Coach Moebes said, "I think there were a lot of factors involved. Fortunately for us, we had a chance to get our legs back underneath us after playing 10 weeks in a row. I think our guys prepared really well. I think they had a great knowledge of the offense they were going to face. It just goes into their studying and preparing for the game. I think they understand the moment that they don't have another game after this."
Cooper is back at home at least 1 more time this week. They host Arlington Lamar at Shotwell Stadium Friday night at 7:30.
