The Cooper Cougars are 3-2 heading into the Crosstown Showdown after a win over Odessa High last Friday night. BCH Sports' Eric Boynton caught up with head coach Todd Moebes to talk about the win and the upcoming game against Abilene High.

Eric Boynton said, "Coach Moebes, the Odessa game was a little different given the weather and lightning delays. How do you think your players handled that adversity, especially on the road?"

Todd Moebes said, "I think they handled it the best they could. I mean there was a lot of dead time, and you've just got to make the most of it. Continue to talk about the game plan, and keep them engaged in the task at hand. So, I think they did a good job."

Eric Boynton asked, "One of the guys that seemed to have a really good game was Lorenzo [Joe], especially running the football. What does he do that helps your offense and specifically the running game?"

Todd Moebes said, "He's certainly got good speed, and when he gets the ball in his hands there are about ten other guys doing a lot of work for him.  He has good vision and is able to find a crease, and he was able to hit those creases and make some plays down the field. You know, guys did a good job blocking in front of him to be able to get past the first line of defense."

Eric Boynton said, "This week is Crosstown Showdown week. How do your guys handle everything else that goes on around the game that has nothing to do with football. How do they handle that?"

Todd Moebes said, "I think they handle it find. It's not the first time they've been a part of it. This game has been played for a long time, and you've got to treat it like another game. It's a district football game. You know, we've still got more season to play after this one. You've really got to approach it that way. You don't do anything different. You've just got to continue to prepare like you've done before."

Cooper and Abilene High will kick-off at 7:30 p.m. Friday night at Shotwell Stadium.
