David Ruot's masterpiece led the Cooper Cougars to a 2-0 victory over Odessa High at Cougar Field.

Ruot was almost perfect on the day in his complete game win. The Cooper junior gave up just 4 hits and struck out 7 in the shutout.

Cooper's offense struggled for much of the game, but picked up 2 unearned runs in the 2nd inning. A bases-loaded walk gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead, and that was followed by a balk that forced in a run for the final score of the game.

Cooper's victory improves their record to 5-7 in district play, and they are still in the hunt for the 4th and final playoff berth from District 2-5A.

The Cougars continue district play on Saturday at Cougar Field against Amarillo Tascosa.
