The De Leon Bearcats are the newest of the eight Big Country teams that are ranked in the Top 25 by Harris Ratings.

The first Big Country team to appear in the Harris Ratings Top 25 is the Eastland Mavericks in Class 2A Div. I. This week the Mavericks come in at number seven after a 58-21 win over Dublin last Friday night.

The Cisco Loboes are the highest ranked of any team in the Big Country at number two in Class 2A Div. II. It's the fifth straight week the Loboes have held onto the second spot in division two.

The bulk of the Big Country teams ranked by Harris Ratings come in Class 1A and specifically division one. The Stamford Bulldogs are the highest ranked at number four, and district rival Anson is just a couple spots back at number six this week.

Goldthwaite remains in the top ten this week at number nine after 23-20 win over De Leon last Friday. That brings us to the Bearcats, who made their debut in the Top 25 this week despite dropping that game for their second loss of the season.

Two teams are ranked this week in division two, and the Albany Lions are the highest at number eight. The Hamlin Pied Pipers dropped slightly to number 17 despite winning their seventh straight game.
