The Deleon Bearcats are trying to rebuild in the 2014 season.

The Bearcats came within a missed extra point of advancing to the state quarterfinals in 2013, but only 2 starters on offense and 2 starters on defense are back from that team.

Youth is the name of the game for head coach David Yeager and his Bearcats.

David Yeager said "We lost some good seniors last year. A lot of them were starters, two way starters for us off a 9-4 team. So, we have a lot of question marks. A lot of our positions are open, wide open for competition which is fun and good. It's exciting, and kids are going to be battling now for those spots."

Raul Hernandez said "We've got to work five times as hard. Push each other everyday. Get better and better. We've got ot have leadership. We have to be better than what we were last year if we want to make it as far as we got last year."

Dylan McCamey returns after 6 interceptions and 2 touchdowns on the defensive side of the ball.

Fullback and linebacker Robin Palmer rushed for 260 yards and picked up 60 tackles in 2013.

Deleon opens the new season at Perrin-Whitt on August 29th.
