One fix could be the continued hot play of quarterback Derek Scott. Scott, who threw for a season high 282 yards and two touchdowns in the Crosstown Showdown for Abilene High.
This is Scott's first year as the starting quarterback and both he and head coach Steve Warren can see his improvement each week.
Derek Scott said "I think I've just become more comfortable in the role that I'm in. Being able to progress from day to day. Just being able to move on from mistakes, and being able to learn from that and recover and make plays after that."
Coach Steve Warren said "You know he gets better every single week. His confidence is better, his confidence in his receivers and offensive line are getting better. He's overcome a lot as we all know to get where he's at right now, but he played at a lot higher level than he had last week, and I think this next week he'll do the same."
Scott and the Eagles are at Shotwell for the third week in a row on Friday night to play Midland Lee. The Rebels are 3-0 in district play.
