Eagles Happy To Still Be In HS Playoffs

February 17th, 2017 - The boys high school basketball playoffs get started next week.

The Abilene High Eagles are one of those teams that are still alive after the regular season.

Head coach Don Hessman's team was 5-7 in district play and finished in 4th place.

It wasn't a perfect year for the Eagles, but you have to get in the playoffs to have a chance at a state title.

So, they are one of a few that have a shot.

Bradley Stevens said, "It's really exciting to be able to be one of the few teams that are still getting to play in playoffs and I'm glad we haven't had to just hang up our shoes and stop playing yet."

Don Heseman said, "Just the excitement of more than half of the other teams in the state of Texas are done today and we're not, we're just on cloud nine."

Nic Marczynski said, "It's been great. We've fought through our toughest struggles and we just keep fighting through our losses. When we win I mean we don't get overconfident, and when we lose we don't get down on ourselves."

Abilene High opens the playoffs at North Crowley on Tuesday at 7:30.
