David Robinett talks to Cooper head coach Todd Moebes about his team's season finale loss to San Angelo Central and Lorenzo Joe's injury.

David Robinett said, "Coach Moebes, I know the season didn't end the way you wanted it to with the loss to Central, but you guys are in the playoffs. How do you keep the guys from worrying about that game and thinking ahead to the playoffs here in a couple week."

Cooper head coach Todd Moebes said, "We are certainly going to look back at that game and analyze and reflect back for some things that didn't go our way, and spend a little bit more time this week to insure that hopefully they do in the future. It's our opportunity to focus and really build up for the start of the 2nd season, and we are glad to have the opportunity to play in it."

Robinett said, "Lorenzo (Joe) broke his hand early in that game and kept going. I understand he's had surgery. 1st off, talk about his health and then talk about the way he played even with a broken hand."

Coach Moebes said, "His surgery went well. We'll continue to monitor him on a daily basis and hope his recovery goes well to give him a shot to see if he can play in a couple of weeks. But, what a warrior. It's amazing that guys can be able to be in the situation and take responsibility for his football team as a leader, especially in the position that he plays and be able to play through an injury like that. He was in a lot of pain and wasn't able to function as he normally would. For him to be able to put all of that aside and continue to sacrifice himself for the betterment of the football team just shows what kind of leader and what kind of competitor he is."

Joe's hand has an extra week to heal because of this week's open date. The Cougars will face a still undetermined team from El Paso for the bi-district title next week.
