The Clyde Bulldogs are riding high after a 61-33 win over Bangs last Friday night. They are also being rewarded by entering the Top 25 by Harris Ratings for the first time in over five season.

With that 21st ranking comes a new sense of confidence in Clyde, and the caoches say it's helping their team in practice.

"After an up and down year, last year I really felt our kids were playing confiedent. Then to go out and play good overall versus a team like Bangs, it should our kids what they're capable of. I think it's made them hungrier to focus on what we do, and just try to be better at what we do," said head coach Rocky Smart.

The players are also seeing the rewards of what they accomplish on the practice field.

"I mean we just came out and played fast, just like coach Smart always tells us. We play at our tempo, play fast, and I mean sixty points happened," said Triston Cauthen.

At the same time the players aren't wrapped up in the rankings. They're focused only on the next opponent.

"It's exciting but we just focus on the next week. A ranking is just a number but we've got to keep focusing on the next week. Just keep going and not worry about numbers, just the next team that we're playing," said Cauthen.

This week the Bulldogs will take on a tough Cisco team that's ranked sixth in Class 2A Div. II. Coach Smart says tough tests from Cisco and Bangs early in the season will pay off in the district schedule.

"Our district is going to be a blood-bath every week. It's going to be extremely competitive, and playing teams like Bangs and Cisco you just hope that gets you to the point where when you go into district you're used to playing hard hitting teams and people that compete hard. That's going to make us better for the long-run," said Smart.

The Bulldogs head to Cisco to take on the Loboes this Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
