Hard Work Pays Off for Gorman

May 19, 2017 - The Gorman Lady Panthers are just one win from going to the state tournament for the first time in school history.

This has been a seasons of firsts for head coach Nick Guthrie and his team. First area title and first regional semifinal title. The Lady Panthers are making it look easy this year, but the success is a result of a lot of hard work.

Mayra Ramirez said, "This is a new experience for us, so for sure practices are going to intensify, but  it's just important for us to remember that it's just like every other game. It's just the stakes are higher."

Guthrie said, "They all work. I'm telling you, there's not a single person on this team that's selfish. We're in this together. We believe in the same goals. We take each step at the same time. When one falls, we pick each other up and keep moving on. I mean we've lost two. We've had some big shoes to fill and I guess, what gets this team going is heart."

The Lady Panthers can join Hermleigh in the state tournament in Belton with a victory on Saturday.

They start at 6 in Bowie.
