Cooper enters Week 7 tied for 2nd in the district and riding a 4-game winning streak.

The play of the defense has been improved over the last 2 weeks and the play of rover KV Hazlett is playing a role.

He has really turned into a ball hawk for Cooper.

He has 1 fumble recovery for a score and an interception return for a score.

If the ball is on the ground, Hazlett tends to be near by.

Head coach Todd Moebes said, "He's got a good individual speed. He's doing a good job of reading his keys. We are doing everything we can to get him around the football. He's certainly been able to make some big plays for us this year. Hopefully, that will continue."

Hazlett says, "I just fit in my spots, in the holes, where I'm supposed to be. The ball just pops out, so I just try to get around it, and not let anyone else touch it. I feel pretty good. We replace people shoes and fill-in there where they left behind and try to be as good as they were."

Hazlett and the Cougars are back at home this week.

They take on a Tascosa team that just beat San Angelo Central at 7:30.
