The Bangs Dragons are in the Class 2A Regional finals for the first time in school history.

The Dragons continued their unbeaten streak in the playoffs with a sweep of Bushland over the weekend.

In 2013, Bangs girls watched the baseball team advance to the state tournament.

That run by the boys is fueling this year's run by the Lady Dragons.

"Any time another team or someone else has success, it's a small school, so everybody gets excited for them. This year has been really special for all sports and it's really nice to end the year well," said Kady Kyle.

"When the boys went to state I even said 'next year's our turn to go.' I've always had confidence in my team, like we could do this. We've always been good enough, but we've never worked as a team, but this year it's a team working together," said Jaylee Roberts.

"Most of our girls were over there, and they watched them in Round Rock. That kind of motivated them. They wanted something similar to that, try to have something like that. They've worked really hard and we're one game away," said head coach Scott Freeman.

The Lady Dragons take on Hawley for a berth in the State Tournament. Game 1 is at Hawley on Thursday night. Game 2 is in Bangs at 7 on Friday.
