The Albany Lions are the only Big Country team still playing in the Class A Division II playoffs, and they were 4 seconds from not surviving the 3rd round.

The Lions fell behind 14-0 by halftime, and they battled back for a 3 point victory thanks to a field goal on the last play of the game.

They had to fight, and the Lions say they are better for it.

Head coach Denney Faith said, "We've done that a couple of times this year, so we have faith in our kickers and our special teams. We spend a lot of time working on those things. We start our practices out every day with some type of special team, and we let our kickers kick every day. We feel comfortable with Jared kicking the ball."

The Lions' Justin Jones added, "It give a lot of confidence in our kicker, and we know we can rely on him. Our offensive line and our defense for making lots of stands gives us lots of offense from both sides of the ball."

The Lions are scheduled to face Muenster on Friday night at 7:30 in Mineral Wells.
