Long, Strange Draft Day For Keevan Lucas

April 29th, 2017 - Keevan Lucas's NFL dreams won't stop even after the Draft is over.

Hundreds of Abilenians showed up to X Golf Abilene on Saturday to support the former AHS Eagles as he watched the NFL Draft and hoped to hear his name called.

On a day that Lucas had looked forward to for his entire life, unfortunately the Tulsa standout wide receiver did not get picked as one of the 253.

But the disappointment of not hearing his name called out on national television wasn't going to stop Lucas from staying positive and thanking all of those who had come out to support him throughout the day.

"It's been great man. It's been a great experience. A fun time. Really a great turnout. I didn't really expect it to be this big, but I'm happy that the city of Abilene is coming out and supporting, so I'm really just happy," Lucas said.

"Still waiting and just waiting for my opportunity, but I'm glad that everybody came out  to support me as I enjoy this new time."

Immediately after the Draft ended, Lucas and his family and close friends huddled behind closed doors to try and work out an undrafted free agent agreement. After a few minutes, BCH Sports rushed into the room after hearing Keevan had gone with the Buffalo Bills.

But after making the announcement to all the fans at X Golf Abilene, he received a call from the Bills saying they had retracted their offer, pending concerns about the health of his knee.

Lucas will travel to New York this week for a tryout with the Jets, and next week he will tryout with the Eagles.
