October 8th, 2017 - RICHARDSON, Texas – Just one day after leading the McMurry University football team to a come-from-behind Homecoming victory, McMurry University quarterback Kevin Hurley Jr. has been named as the American Southwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office.
It was quite a performance for Hurley, in spearheading the second-half assault on Belhaven University. After missing last week’s game versus Texas Lutheran – and also not starting against the Blazers – after suffering an injury two weeks ago at Sul Ross State, Hurley was called on to start the second half with McMurry trailing BU, 23-7.
In just the two quarters on Saturday, Hurley completed 11-of-14 passes for 245 yards. Hurley threw four touchdown passes of 63, 10, 22 and 51 yards, as the War Hawks scored the 42-30 win. He did not throw an interception, nor was he sacked.
Hurley also ran the ball 10 times for 36 net yards on the ground.
